PROCESS AUTOMATION AND ENERGY SAVINGS: THE NEW CHALLENGE Print E-mail
Makor Gemini

The current worldwide economic situation is forcing manufacturing companies to look at new processes and technology to reduce costs, in order to keep acceptable operating profit margins.
The solutions proposed by MAKOR which involve the use of UV coatings are especially studied to meet both of these market needs, remaining the most innovative on the worldwide finishing market.

GOING AUTOMATIC - PANEL EDGES COATING PROCESS
From the synergy MAKOR-TECNOLEGNO was born GEMINI, the solution for coating and sanding edges of panels. Several important producers are focusing their attention on this part of the process in order to reduce the labour and costs presently involved.
Edges of panels are coated thanks to a sequence of operations in line: pre-sanding – UV coating – UV drying – denibbing.
The machine solidity and the reliability of the transport system, as well as the high quality of the sanding groups are guaranteed by the experience accumulated by Tecnolegno in 40 years of leadership in the manufacturing of single-sided machines dedicated to sanding edges.
The vacuum coating head, a development of the Cyclone model by Makor, is able to apply UV with 100% solid content, therefore allowing a total absence of product waist and zero emissions in the atmosphere.
The special lamellar applicator, PATENTED by Makor, can apply important quantities of product in the most accurate way, even on very profiled and round edges.
An additional system PATENTED by Makor in this field, gives the possibility to add on this same GEMINI machine a special head which is able to apply UV putty on chipboard panel edges.
Since several months this innovative application has reached high quality levels, and the laboratory tests confirm that scratch resistance and adhesion parameters are very good. This new patented system will allow our clients to start evaluating from now on the possibility to replace MDF with chipboard panels, with obvious results in terms of reduced final costs for their manufactured goods.

ENERGY SAVING
MAKOR is using since several months on the edge-coater GEMINI, as well as on all other UV ovens such as mod. KUREX for profiles and mod. ULTRADRY for panels, new electronic power supplies for the operation of UV lamps. These units have helped to strongly reduce the energy costs related to the use of UV technology for the curing process.
The new electronic power supplies replace the traditional transformers and guarantee a higher UV efficiency with  the following advantages: savings of energy about 10% compared to traditional transformers; possibility to regulate each UV lamp power in continuous thanks to a very practical potentiometer; control of absorbed power for each UV lamp with automatic compensation in case of variations caused by the client’s power supply system (emitted UV remains constant); reduction of stand-by mode to 10% of maximum power with important savings related to this automatic control (lamps go to stand-by mode when the ovens have no pieces in process and go back immediately to pre-set working power as soon as new pieces are processed).

EXHIBITIONS
Makor will be exhibiting at FIMMA MADERALIA 2009 in Valencia from 3rd to 6th November. Spain has been for years one the most important markets for wood-working equipment, a market where Makor is regarded as leader in the finishing business thanks to hundreds of lines installed in the last 20 years. Also for this edition, our personnel will be very glad to welcome you on Stand D78 – Hall N3-P1.
Makor will also be present at the FURNITURE FAIR in Belgrade from 12th to 18th November
